Small Solutions
I believe the best solution is for us as Americans to invest in, and encourage innovation in, clean energy technologies such as wind power. We can also reduce our consumption of energy (and therefore our demand for natural gas and oil) by taking actions such as turning lights off and unplugging appliances when they are not in use. We may need to improve our clean energy technologies before they can go from being “alternative” to being “mainstream,” and perhaps, in the meantime, fracking for oil and gas here in the United States is better than burning fossil fuels to transport it over the ocean. But before we continue fracking, we need to understand, as thoroughly as possible, how it may affect our fellow living things. However, no matter how much we research the possible consequences of our activities, there is always the possibility of unforeseen consequences occurring.
